Stone post (plate lost) by the B2070 (was A3), in parish of PETERSFIELD (EAST HAMPSHIRE District), Landpits Oak, in copse of willow trees opposite large lay-by, on West side of road. Portsmouth limestone block and plate Erected by the Portsmouth & Sheet Bridge turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription once read:- (53) (Miles From) (LONDON) (1 From) (Petersfield) (16 To) (PORTSMOUTH) Milestone Society National ID: HA_LP53.
