Built in the early 18th century around 1730 as a house, and later converted to a shop front in Victorian times; the interior retains several noteworthy features such as a stairway and wood panelling, possibly original. The whole was Grade II* listed https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101255040-7-the-square-shrewsbury#.XJiJQCj7RPY in 1953, along with the octagonal Victorian postbox outside which attracted its own Grade II listing https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101254922-pillar-box-opposite-number-7-shrewsbury#.XJiK-ij7RPY in 1972.
