Metal plate attached to stone post by the B6088, in parish of STOCKSBRIDGE (SHEFFIELD District), Manchester Road, Stocksbridge, in front of Fire Station, on South side of road. Brayshaw & Booth iron casting, erected by the County Council in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : HUDDERSFIELD / 16½ MILES / HOLMFIRTH / 11 MILES : : WADSLEY LANGSETT / & / SHEFFIELD / ROAD / GREEN : : SHEFFIELD / 10 MILES : Maker:- : BRAYSHAW & BOOTH / MAKERS / LIVERSEDGE : Grade II listed.
