The plaque, on the wall of the Dreel Tavern [https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6095377], was presented by the Anstruther Improvements Association. It reads: JAMES V 1513-1542 TRAVELLED INCOGNITIO THROUGH FIFE AS THE 'GIUD MAN O'BALLENGIECH', COMING TO THE DREEL BURN AND FEARFUL OF WETTING HIS HOSE, HE WAS CARRIED ACROSS AT THIS POINT BY A STOUT GABERLUNZIE WOMAN WHO WAS REWARDED WITH THE KINGS PURSE. PRESENTED BY THE A.I.A. 1972
