Cow Lane bridges

This is the higher and wider of the two Cow Lane bridges. This one does not have traffic lights and carries two-way traffic. The two bridges (the other one is in SU7074) have always been a bottleneck, but a solution is very expensive because major railway lines run over them. However, the railways in the area are also a major bottleneck and plans have now been approved for work to be done as part of the redevelopment of Reading station.
