This new 26km pipeline will take water from the River Severn at Lickhill to Frankley water treatment works. It will provide a vital backup water supply for Birmingham, so refurbishment work on the Elan Valley aqueduct can be carried out and also to use in any future emergency. Preparation work to lay the pipeline started in October 2016 and will continue until 2019.
