"Nightly BILE BEANS Keep You HEALTHY, BRIGHT-EYED & SLIM" - at least according to this painted advertisement on the end of No.18 Lord Mayors Walk, just outside the city walls in York. Number 18 is now home to the "New Bronze Age Beauty & Tanning Studio". Who knows, maybe one day the idea of using a tanning studio will seem as weirdly masochistic and uninviting as a nightly dose of Bile Beans - whatever they are.
