The doorway inscription states that church was established in 1790. The date stone at the top reads "Hephzibah Erected 1809" - does this imply a Hephzibah Baptist Church? According to http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WMXT9F_1807_Congregational_Church_Newton_Burgoland_Leicestershire the church fell into disuse, but was reconsecrated in 2009.
