A Class 142 diesel multiple unit train leaving Redcar Central station, on a journey from Saltburn to Darlington. Redcar Central originally had just one track and platform. These were within the building to the left of the tracks. A second track and platform were added later, as the original single track and platform were a bottleneck. More recently, the station has been remodelled again with both tracks passing outside the train shed building. The platforms are staggered rather than being directly opposite one another. The platform for the left hand track is further back, behind the photographer.
