The stone bridge carrying Hermitage Lane over the river Dane retains its setted surface. The bridge dates from 1772 and is listed grade II (list entry 1231268). The lane was made to connect the Hermitage (owned by the locally influential Armitstead family) to Holmes Chapel an dcurrently has the status of a Restricted Byway.
