Carved stone post by the B1071, in parish of Chilton (Babergh District), Chilton Grove, just West of entrance to airfield, in hedge, on South side of road. Sudbury pillar erected by the Sudbury to Bury St Edmunds Turnpike Trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : LVIII / TO / LONDON / II / TO / SUDBURY / Chilton : : LVIII / MILES / FROM / LONDON / V / TO / LAVENHAM / XV / TO / BURY / Chilton : Suffolk HER. HER Number (Pref.
