Metal plate attached to stone post by the UC road (was A12), in parish of IPSWICH (IPSWICH District), London Road, by No. 142, by low brick wall at entrance. Garrett face iron casting, erected by the Ipswich to Stratford St Mary turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : IPSWICH / 1 / WOODBRIDGE / 8 : : IPSWICH / TO / LONDON / 68 : : COLCHESTER / 17 / CHELMSFORD / 39 : Maker:- : J GARRETT. / IRON FOUNDER / ST MARGARET'S / IPSWICH / 1818 : Grade II listed.
