There are two very small becks crossed by Helwith Road within a short distance of each other. The other is rather turgid and brown, but this one runs more clearly as it is fed by a nearby spring issuing from beneath a band of limestone. The becks combine to form Dales Beck which changes its name to Ellers Beck a short way further on.
