This sculpture comprising seven stone figures on a brick plinth was created by the late Verena Murtagh and can be seen on the green by the junction of Church Road and The Street. It is one of three village waymarkers commissioned for the first Bergh Apton sculpture trail in 1997. The housing development around the green on Church Road was constructed in 1951 by the Loddon Rural District Council in 1951 and designed by the architects Tayler and Green. The scheme is described as "a fine example of these architects' work, exemplary as a sensitive and self-contained extension to an existing community, which uses its woodland setting to great advantage to create a new 'village green'" (NHER). The completed scheme received a Civic Trust Award in 1957 and a Housing Medal in 1961 > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6074496.
