The black plaque https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6074470 on the hall wall records that the building was the village's first church, built in 1882. It was too small to cope with the increase in population at the turn of the century. It was replaced by the new church built behind it. The new church was consecrated on May 24th 1912 by the Bishop of Llandaff. The Church of St Peter & St Paul is part of the Benefice of Abercanaid in the Church in Wales Diocese of Llandaff.
