Carved stone post by the A572, in parish of GOLBORNE (WIGAN District), Newton Road, Lowton Heath, 30m West of The Travellers Rest PH, in hedge on North side of road. St Helens stone, erected by the Bolton & St Helens turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- LOWTON TO BOLTON 12 MILES TO ST. HELENS 7 MILES SP PW. Milestone Society National ID: LA_BOSH12.
