Stone post (plate lost) by the A420, in parish of CHIPPENHAM WITHOUT (NORTH WILTSHIRE District), Bristol Road, outside "Springfields", opposite Chippenham Motors Garage, on the verge between path and tall wooden fence of garden; red cone beside it, on North side of road. Marshfield iron plate, erected by the Chippenham turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription once read:- (7 MILES) (TO) (MARSHFIELD) (2 MILES) (TO) (CHIPPENHAM) Grade II listed.
