Cast iron post by the B1438, in parish of MELTON (SUFFOLK COASTAL District), The Street, on pavement, back to house wall, West side of road. Garrett face iron casting, erected by the Ipswich to South Town, & Darsham to Bungay turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : YARMOUTH / 45 / SAXMUNDHAM / 11 : : MELTON / TO / LONDON / 78 : : IPSWICH / 9 / WOODBRIDGE / 1 : Maker:- : J GARRETT / IRON FOUNDER / ST MARGARET'S / IPSWICH / 1818 : Milestone Society National ID: SU_LI78
