Carved stone post by the A131, in parish of LITTLE WALTHAM (CHELMSFORD District), 50m from start of new Great Leighs bypass, hidden in hawthorn hedge, on East side of road. Essex facets, erected by the Chelmsford (Div. of Essex First Dist) turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- (CHEL)MS (FO)RD I(?) BRAI(NTREE) VI Essex HER.
