Cast iron post by the A53, in parish of WHITMORE (NEWCASTLE UNDER LYME District), White House, Baldwin's Gate, on the verge in front of hedge, on Southeast side of road. Lathe iron casting, erected by the County Council in the 19th/20th century. Inscription reads:- : ASHLEY 4 / MARKET - / DRAYTON 9 : : WHITMORE : : WHITMORE ¾ / NEWCASTLE 5 : Maker:- : Chas.
