The small village of East Morton had two Methodist chapels on Green End: this one built in 1827 was a Primitive Methodist chapel; the other higher up the hill (Zion chapel) was Wesleyan and had a burial ground. After 1932 it was renamed Hillside chapel; in the 1950s the two congregations merged and used this building until 1983. It has now been converted to housing.
