Carved stone post by the B1004, in parish of Bishop's Stortford (East Hertfordshire District), Rye Street, by No. 12, on the verge, on East side of road. Hockerill stone, erected by the Hockerill turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : 29 : : XLIV : Carved benchmark on front face. (N.B. XLIV = 44, so stone may have come from elsewhere) Hertfordshire HER & St Albans UAD.
