Carved stone post by the A166, in parish of GATE HELMSLEY (RYEDALE District), East of Gate Helmsley; opposite the entrance to Balloon Tree Nursery, by the road, on South side of road. Mounting block steps with inset milestone, erected by the York to Kexby Bridge & Grimston to Stonedale End turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- To York VII Miles Carved benchmark on top. Milestone Society National ID: YN_YODR07.
