Metal plate attached to stone post by the A65, in parish of THORNTON IN LONSDALE (CRAVEN District), just East of eastern lane into Masongill to north, under hedge near top of rise 100m Northwest of Westhouse Nursery on opposite side, on South side of road. WR iron casting, erected by the County Council in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : KENDAL / 17 MILES : : KEIGHLEY & KENDAL / ROAD / THORNTON / IN / LONSDALE : : SETTLE / 12¼ MILES / SKIPTON / 27¾ MILES / KEIGHLEY / 37 MILES : North Yorkshire HER listed.
