Carved stone post was on A23, in parish of CROYDON (CROYDON District), roadside, now in Public Gardens between A23 and A243, between Water Tower Hill and Stanhope Road, on East side of road. Surrey limestone pillar, erected by the Surrey & Sussex turnpike trust in the 18th century. Inscription reads:- : WHITEHALL / 9½ / MILES : : ROYAL / EXCHANGE / 10 / MILES : Carved benchmark on left side. Milestone Society National ID: SY_LBT09a.
