Carved stone post by the B6462, in parish of PENISTONE (BARNSLEY District), Huddersfield Road, 100m North of Grammar School, opposite lamppost 5 and 'School' sign, backing onto wall on verge, on West side of road. Huddersfield triangle, erected by the Huddersfield & Penistone turnpike trust in the 18th century. Inscription reads:- : TO / HUDDERSFIELD / 12 / MILES : : (TO) / PENISTONE / ½ / MILE : Grade II listed.
