Carved stone post by the A628, in parish of BARNSLEY (BARNSLEY District), Dodworth Road, 300m East of Broadway traffic lights; West of St Hilda Avenue, in low wall in front of Shell petrol station, on South side of road. Erected by the Doncaster & Salter's Brook turnpike trust in the 18th century. Inscription reads:- Barnsley 1 Mile Manchester (3)5 Miles Grade II Listed.
