Carved stone post by the A57, in parish of PRESCOT (KNOWSLEY District), Warrington Road; Holt, junction with Gilbert Road, opposite petrol station on verge, on North side of road. Prescot stone, erected by the Liverpool, Prescot, Ashton & Warrington turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : TO / WARRINGTON / IX / MILES : : TO / PRESCOT / 1 / MILE / TO LIVERPOOL / IX / MILES : : WHISTON : Cancelled benchmarks left lower and right middle. Milestone Society National ID: LA_WALV09.
