Stone post (plate lost) by the A268, in parish of HAWKHURST (TUNBRIDGE WELLS District), Rye Road, East of "Clayhill", on overgrown bank, on North side of road. Rye iron plate, erected by the Rye turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription once read:- (London 49) (Rye 13½) Kent HER listed. HER Number: TQ 72 NE 17 https://www.heritagegateway.org.uk/Gateway/Results_Single.aspx?uid=MKE1761&resourceID=1005 Milestone Society National ID: KE_LR49.
