Metal plate attached to stone post by the A684, in parish of SEDBERGH (SOUTH LAKELAND District), Hawes Road, 100m East of Low Braithwaites, Holebeck, Fostrow, on the verge above cattle grid, on North side of road. Sedburgh V iron casting, erected by the County Council in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : HAWES / 14 MILES : : SEDBERGH & HAWES / ROAD / FROSTROW / & / SOOLBANK : : SEDBERGH / 2 MILES : Carved benchmark on top edge; Rivet & benchmark in benchmark database.
