Carved stone post by the UC road, in parish of GESTINGTHORPE (BRAINTREE District), 250m West of Moat Farm corner, by the road, on South side of road. Essex facets, erected by the Chelmsford (Division of Essex First District) turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : Braintree / 11 / Gestingthorpe : : LONDON / 51 : : Sudbury / 5 / Gestingthorpe : Grade II listed.
