Carved stone post by the A24 & A205 junction, in parish of CLAPHAM (LAMBETH District), Clapham Common South Side, on traffic island junction with The Avenue, on West side of road. Surrey limestone pillar, erected by the Epsom, Ewell, Tooting etc. turnpike trust in the 18th century. Inscription reads:- : ROYAL / EXCHANGE / 5 / MILES : : WHITEHALL / 4½ / MILES : Carved benchmark front lower.
