One metal plate attached to stone post by the A6, one plate lost. In parish of CARNFORTH (LANCASTER District), Lancaster Road, beside The Canal Turn PH, opposite No. 126, and 150m South of junction with Alexander Road, in path with back to stone wall of pub, on East side of road. Lancaster twin iron plate, erected by the Garstang and Heronsyke turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : (LANCASTER / VI / MILES) : : CARNFORTH : : BURTON / IIII / MILES : Grade II listed.
