Metal plate attached to stone post by the A429, in parish of ST PAUL MALMESBURY WITHOUT (NORTH WILTSHIRE District), Burton Hill; by "Pike House" next to entrance, by the road, on West side of road. Malmesbury First Roman, erected by the Malmesbury - First District turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- CHIPPENM. IX MILES. MALMSRY. I MILE Grade II listed.
