Replacement metal plate attached to stone post by the A3, in parish of HORNDEAN (EAST HAMPSHIRE District), Snell's Corner, by No. 227A London Road (was No.279 in listing), by the road, on West side of road. Portsmouth limestone block & plate, erected by the Portsmouth & Sheet Bridge turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- 58 Miles From LONDON 6 From Petersfield 11 To PORTSMOUTH Carved benchmark on lower face. Grade II listed.
