Towy Valley from Dinefwr Castle

The castle at Dinefwr was founded in the 11th century and continued to be held by Welsh Princes and Kings until falling to the English around 1317. Its status fell and it was a summer house to nearby Newton House when it burnt down in the 18th century. It is now owned by the Wildlife Trust for South and West Wales and managed by Cadw. The Towy or Tywi is the longest river entirely within Wales and is 75 miles long. Here it meanders across the floodplain below Llandovery.
