In the days of British Rail there were British Railways Staff Association (BRSA) clubs in many towns and cities across the country; membership was open to all employees for a nominal fee. Around the time of privatisation many were sold off and disappeared, but a few were bought out by their members and have survived including this one at Eastleigh - an important railway centre since Victorian times. It is now the Eastleigh Railway Institute; there is a bowling green at the rear.
