Unlike many coastal towns that have their origins as long standing fishing harbours or ports, Aberaeron is a 19th century creation with the construction of a new harbour and shipbuilding facilities. There is a distinct Regency style to many of the properties and those facing the harbour are encouraged to use bright colours to add to the gaiety of the scene. The banding around the front door on number 10 is picked out in tiny pebbles reflecting the seaside location.
