Effigies of Thomas Vaughan and his wife Ellen Gethin, known as 'Ellen the Terrible'. Thomas Vaughan is believed to have been killed at the aged of 69 at the Battle of Edgecote Moor near Banbury in 1469. His wife is known as 'the Terrible' as it is believed she killed her cousin John by piercing his heart with an arrow in revenge for his killing of her brother, David. Their home was nearby Hergest Court Image
