A fishing competition is in progress. Sometimes this can spread for up to a mile, and anglers expect all boats to slow down to a crawl, and can be quite surly about it. Luckily, on other days the many individual angling enthusiasts are sometimes cheerful and exchange friendly banter with boat crews, and I am always well impressed by the few who actally thank us for slowing down to avoid disturbing their ground bait deposits.
