Opened on 15 March 1899, the station was part of the Great Central Railway's London Extension linking Nottingham with Marylebone in London. It closed on 5 May 1969. The station is being converted into shops. This is part of the wider regeneration of the waterside area of Leicester. Image, same view taken over 14 months later.
