The Coflein website records that Penallta Workmen's Hall opened in the mid 1920s. It provided a library and reading rooms, billiards rooms, committee rooms, public hall, and other features typical of workmen's institutes in the South Wales Coalfield in this period. In later years the Hall operated a popular snooker hall. In December 2018 the name on the building is Mini Miners Club Day Nursery. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5995489
