This is looking south from the bridge over the A1 at the Theakston junction. The interesting cloud formation in the distance emanates from a power station and would appear to be Drax, near Selby – some 43 miles away. With a temperature inversion, where there is a layer of warm air above a cooler layer, the output from the cooling towers has risen vertically until it has reached some warmer air, where it has dispersed almost horizontally.
