The village of Winterbourne Bassett stands just north-west of the A4361 Swindon - Avebury road. This road is paralleled at a higher level to the east by the Ridgeway. To the south-west is the site of the dmv (deserted mediaeval village) of Richardson. The church, with window glass of 1926, sits on the southern edge of the village accompanied by the manor house, a farm and the Victorian rectory. There are monuments to the Baskerville family from Richardson, one of whom was the father of twelve sons. Time taken not available.
