This photo shows the nameboard outside The Russell School in Brushwood Drive. The three scallops on the nameboard are taken from the coat of arms of the Dukes of Bedford who have had a long association with the surrounding area https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Arms_of_the_Duke_of_Bedford.svg refers. Below the three scallops is the swan with a coronet and chain which is taken from the coat of arms of the Dukes and Earls of Buckingham, and is still incorporated in the coat of arms of Buckinghamshire http://www.ngw.nl/heraldrywiki/index.php?title=Buckinghamshire refers. Below the shield is the school motto "FORWARD". The Russell School and Chorleywood West used to be in the county of Buckinghamshire until 31st March 1991, when the area was transferred the following day into the county of Hertfordshire.
