The tower, Hulne Priory

The tower within the priory curtain wall is the most prominent feature, and is also the building that has seen the most changes over the centuries. It was built in 1486 for Sir Henry Percy. The oriel window seen here is part of the original fabric, but on the far side are 18thC windows, whilst the interior was much altered at the same time. An 18thC bridge connects the tower with a summer house of the same period. The ruined gable end is part of the priory church.
