Both prominent buildings are Category A Listed, the Rutland Hotel nearer the camera http://portal.historicenvironment.scot/designation/LB29685 and the Caledonian Hotel behind it http://portal.historicenvironment.scot/designation/LB29524 , which was built as Princes Street railway station.
