Not trusting my notes, I searched for proof and found that the little shield-shaped plaque is this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/mid/sites/aberaeron/pages/bicentenary_plaques.shtml?5 . I also found that the school, non-denominational, was founded in 1844, and this building opened in 1872 with a capacity of 240 pupils aged 5-11. That seems a large number for a building this size.
