The Victoria County History says "The Congregational chapel in Eastborough was built in 1703 and enlarged in 1774 and 1801". Bulmer's history of North Yorkshire says it is "the site of the oldest non-conformist meeting in the town". It has been boarded up for many years and, although it carries a flag board for a local commercial estate agent, they do not list it and, when I telephoned to find out the current status, denied all knowledge of the property. The steps on the left are older, giving access to an elevated terrace above the street called Palace Hill - see https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1273456 , and the archway through the church is part of the Palace Hill complex too.
