The street has been cut in two by the building of the southern ring road and the area between the ring road and Bridge Street has been filled by a small shopping centre which goes over the street and a swimming pool and leisure centre to the right between the underpass and pillars holding up the shopping centre. Both erected in the early 1980s with a dash of soulless concrete architecture.
